CSIR-CIMAP Lucknow Marks National Technology Day 2026 with Strategic Partnerships, Skill Empowerment, and Student Outreach

LUCKNOW: CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow, celebrated National Technology Day 2026 under the theme “Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth” with a series of initiatives highlighting technology transfer, women empowerment, scientific outreach, and strategic collaborations.

The programme commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting by Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP, along with distinguished guests and senior scientists. Dr. Sanjay Kumar (Scientist-G) presented an overview of the institute’s major technological initiatives and outreach programmes.

On this occasion, the CSIR-CIMAP commemorative badge was also released by the Director, symbolizing the institute’s vision as an “Innovation Engine of India.”

Several strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and technology transfer agreements aimed at accelerating innovation-driven growth were also signed. CSIR-CIMAP signed a one-year MoU with M/s Frezool Industries Pvt. Ltd., Lucknow for market seeding of five herbal products including Flomop, Clean Germ, Mospray, Mosrep and Kleenzie with provisions for joint data ownership and intellectual property safeguards. A Technology Transfer Agreement was also signed with ICAR-KVK Ernakulam, Kerala, for localized production of herbal bio-agents in agricultural ecosystems. Further, a three-year partnership was formalized with Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) for consultancy support on urban greening, medicinal plant landscaping, aroma parks, and thematic green corridors. Another collaboration was signed with Tantia University, Rajasthan, for TBIC services related to wellness and hygiene products as per CSIR guidelines.

On the eve of Labour Day 2026, Dr. (Mrs.) Sunita Singh Dhawan delivered an informative session on the POSH Act, 2013, highlighting workplace dignity, safety, and awareness measures for stakeholders. All laborers associated with the institute were felicitated with shawls as a token of appreciation and gratitude for their dedicated service and invaluable contributions.

As part of its outreach initiatives, CSIR-CIMAP offers hands-on skill training for Self-Help Group (SHG) women from nearby districts of Uttar Pradesh. The programme covered herbal agarbatti formulation, aromatic candle and cone making, rose water and floral hydrosol preparation, and value-added eco-friendly products using aromatic herbs. Also, more than 300 school students from different districts of Uttar Pradesh visited the CSIR-CIMAP campus for interactive scientific exposure

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi described CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants as an institute “sitting on a gold mine of opportunities,” with only a fraction of its vast scientific potential explored so far. He highlighted the institute’s advanced research infrastructure, strong IT capabilities, and modern facilities developed through the collective efforts of scientists, technical staff, administrators, and students. He expressed confidence that CSIR-CIMAP would achieve global recognition in medicinal and aromatic plant research through impactful and collaborative innovations. Dr. Trivedi further noted that initiatives such as the Aroma Mission have strengthened India’s position as a leading producer and exporter of lemongrass and essential oils. Emphasizing inclusive growth, teamwork, and innovation-driven research, he urged scientists and staff to work collectively towards new milestones for CSIR and the nation, while reaffirming the institute’s commitment to dignity, safety, and respect for women employees and acknowledging daily wage workers and students as the “real backbone of the institute.”

The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rushikesh Bhise (Scientist-D), while the proceedings were conducted efficiently by Dr. Sanjay Kumar (Scientist-G), Dr. Ramesh Srivastava(Scientist-F), and Dr. Sumya Pathak (Scientist-D) followed by the National Anthem
